The W B Whitie Benevolent Fund

William Brown Whitie put forward the original motion to form the RIAS at the joint meeting of the chapters in 1916. In recognition of his efforts he became President of the Glasgow Institute in 1921- 22 and elected President of the RIAS in 1934-36.

When Whitie passed away, in 1946, he left part of his estate to the GIA for the purposes of establishing a Benevolent Fund for members that are going through hardship and are in need of support.
