Due to the ongoing crisis over the past year, students have faced new challenges, with the limited ability to communicate on a one-on-one basis, as well as participate in peer learning. The rather effortless exchange of information, criticism, and ideas possible within studio environments, or through reviews and exhibitions, has become difficult as a result of the isolation imposed by the circumstances. The spontaneous encounters we would usually have following an event, exhibition, or a lecture have now become more limited and have affected cross-school collaboration and dialogue.
In response to this, the GIA Education Committee will be hosting a number of peer-led cross-school workshops, allowing students from both of Glasgow’s architecture schools to exchange ideas and feedback, in the effort to encourage discourse. These workshops will be structured around certain themes, allowing students to discuss their project concepts with others tackling similar issues, as well as receive feedback from their peers. The workshops will be facilitated by the GIA, but will encourage commentary and collaboration from all participants.
We hope to provide you with stimulating and provocative sessions that help you move forward with your university work, whilst also allowing you to create new friendships and connections with peers who have the same interests.
The sessions will be running in the evenings during the first week of March (1-7.03). To sign up, please fill out the form, available here, before the 21st of February. We will then be in touch with you to arrange a suitable time for your groups.
We look forward to seeing you at our workshops!
