Due to the ongoing pandemic, this year’s awards judging took place online over June and July, with the date for the awards ceremony to be confirmed in due course.

GIA President Phil Zoechbauer said:

"The judging of this year’s GIA Student Awards comes at the end of the second year (and first full year) of online and remote teaching as a result of the ongoing pandemic, and it is remarkable what the students have again achieved in spite of the obvious hurdles that have been imposed as a result of COVID-19. Once again, the quality of output by this year’s students who have been studying at the two schools of architecture within the GIA chapter has been outstanding and I would personally like to congratulate all the award winners and commendations on their achievement.

Judging such a diverse list of projects is never easy and I would like to personally thank all of this year’s GIA judges who gave up their time to review the work of the students of each of the schools of architecture, and whose contribution is essential to ensure the awards process is fair and informed by a range in opinions from different backgrounds of the profession.

Finally thank you to the students: their talent and creativity has once again made the judging an enlightening and enjoyable experience, and reinforces the central role that architecture plays in all of our lives, and how it can bring about positive change in our collective physical and social environment."
