GIA- 2016 Festival of Architecture GRAND FINALE
18th - 19th November
West Ward Works, Dundee, DD1 5BR
2016 has been a fantastic year, a very busy year indeed. Please come and join us to see our exhibition showcasing some of the fantastic work that the GIA has carried out for the Festival of Architecture 2016.
eòlas – jɔːLəs
Gaelic word for knowledge. The eolas pavilion travelled first from Glasgow to the isle of Coll, followed by Kilkreggan, Dumfries and of course Glasgow, engaging each of these communities to discuss architecture at local level and promoting the festival across the chapter area. The eolas pavilion is now on its way to Dundee for the festival finale.
Pop-up exhibition celebrating 37 years of Design Awards given to 100 buildings by the Glasgow Institute of Architects. The exhibition showcases the history of the awards using a humble hoarding method used in construction sites –the Heras fence. Furthermore, we produced an architectural treasure hunt maps that located all of the projects across Scotland, these will be available during the finale event.
Join us for a very special weekend of entertainment, performance and illumination as we officially mark the end of the Festival of Architecture 2016 at Light Nights: Festival of Architecture Grand Finale on 18-19th November.
Dundee’s oldest and newest landmarks provide the perfect backdrop for the spectacular Grand Finale light show as illuminations highlight the intricate construction of Japanese architect Kengo Kuma’s visionary V&A Museum of Design Dundee. There will also be the opportunity to see a range of FoA2016 exhibitions including; Adventures in Space, The Best of the Best, Build It Scotland, Lateral North’s 3D timber map of Scotland, Scotstyle and as part of Dundee’s Christmas celebrations you can also enjoy a torchlight procession, Night Market, food and drink fayre and much more.
