Paisley Community Safety Hub
The former District Court is one of the most distinctive parts of the ambitious brutalist Paisley Civic Centre. It is a careful composition of concrete and glass with a pyramidal roof and elevations combining curtain walling, vertical structure and cantilevered overhangs.
Community Safety Hubs bring police, social services and community support officers together to share information and provide cross disciplinary support to improve the service provision of each organisation.
The brutal quality of the concrete was retained through exposed repairs, steam cleaning and water repelling treatment. Damaged lead panels, aluminium windows and felt roofs were removed and replaced with a gold cladding and anodised aluminium windows and doors. Materials that age and patina natural were selected.
