Design Awards 2016
132kV substation in conservation area. The building was designed to meet stringent technical requirements and to allow potential future development whilst complimenting its Grade A listed neighbour.
The building adopts a curvilinear form which mirrors the terrace with a heavily modelled dressed ashlar blond sandstone broken by deep set louvres. The wall terminates at a datum with a clerestorey of glass separating between it and roof. The roof extends at both gables to form canopy and address approach. The north façade is formed in mesh and concrete. The building is secured by a lightweight fence and landscape is minimal and movable to suit the buildings function.
