Part of a joint venture with Leeds based Evans Property Group, Dakota Deluxe is the first in a new chain of hotels from the Dakota brand which saw the conversion of a vacant seven storey, mid-century office building in Glasgow city centre into an 83 bedroom, luxury boutique hotel with bar, restaurant & external terrace.
The existing in-situ concrete structure was retained with the rear elevations upgraded and refurbished. In order to meet the Client’s aesthetic aspirations, the two principle elevations to the street were completely transformed by the wholescale demolition of the existing façade; replaced with an orderly grid of dark grey facing brick with large scale aluminium framed windows to each bedroom. A monochromatic palette of materials was designed to reinforce the brand’s identity but was enriched with layers of glossy and textured materials set within the brick grid including opaque ribbed glass, textured Corian cladding, perforated steel awnings and polished natural gr
