Park Square Regeneration, Campbeltown
Coltart Earley Architecture
This project was developed in association with Argyll and Bute Council as part of the town’s Kinloch Road Regeneration. A new gateway is created responding in turn to the urban context, Kinloch Park and Aquilibrium to give visitors an impressive journey to the harbour and town centre.
The original Park Square was a tenemental block which separated the park from the main road into town. A new road bisects the site opening up vistas.
Twenty-four flats with spectacular views are housed in two dual-fronted blocks which reference Campbeltown’s distillery heritage. Two smaller blocks bookend the existing flats, each a contemporary interpretation of local architecture. Finally, a two-storey terrace located on the axis of the two main blocks forms a mews style backdrop to existing buildings.
Well detailed “stone” blockwork with fine joints and white render are complemented by aluminium clad triple glazing and south facing glazed balconies to create an excellent, sustainable environment for urban living.
