Design Awards 2012
The brief was for a low-carbon energy-efficient dwelling maximising recycled materials and exploiting the natural features, views and light quality of a steeply-sloping site in the clients’ existing garden. The new design seeks to resolve these demands while being adaptable and encouraging a high degree of social interaction.
Externally, timber and stone cladding were recycled from local sources (partly from the site). Internally, the floor, kitchen and bathroom use recycled materials and components. Power is in part generated by a ground source heat pump and photovoltaic panels.
